We Are The Troops - CD Release

So after more than a year, the time had finally come... Something that started as just a wild dream of two people, evolved into a most ambitious project and was finally completed. Last Friday we celebrated the release of the WATT split cd. This was a very important milestone in the life of Solace Within. We would like to thank Marloes Polman and Robert Nabbe of The Artillery studio for making this all possible, all the other bands and of course the crowd who came to party and support us all! Below are some pics of Solace Within, more will most likely follow soon.

Rise Above', the first of 2 covers songs by a collaboration of 9 bands brought together by recording studio The Artillery. The 'We Are The Troops' split-CD, which features one song a band plus 2 covers of hardcore 'classics'', will be released at the 9th of December at the Willemeen in Arnhem, be sure to be there!!

Unfortunately Hakan has decided to quit Solace Within to return to his roots like Funk and RnB. All the luck to him!!! Thanks for the great time and all the effort you put in to Solace Within.
Some time ago, Jozef came back after being away for about a year. This worked out well and it was like the circle was round again. At this moment, we would like to welcome back another original; Lisa! Lisa is responsible for some of the songs we still play and even a song which is on our EP (Unanswered Love). We asked lisa 2 or 3 days ago to learn 2 songs, which she played perfectly at our rehearsals yesterday. It felt freakishly good to play together again. Lisa loves to write music and we've already heard some of her new compositions, ofcourse we've also been busy, so be ready for some new songs!!!

Solace Within has added two new gigs. The 19th of November, we will play with a Secret Handshake Club and our close friends Deadbeat. Lots of fun garanteed!!! There's no damage, so you can focuse on buying yourself some beer!
One of Solace Within's most important moments will be made history on December 9th when the Split CD We Are The Troops. Besides yours truly, the evening will feature the following bands:

''Opener In The Shadows Of Tomorrow laat meteen doorschijnen wat de mannen in hun mars hebben; metalcore die wat wegheeft van regiogenoten Kudra Mata, maar dan minder hard en met meer hitgevoel. We Are The Troops project - update

At September 11th, we went back to the studio to help recording the two coversongs from The Artillery. Robin is featuring on drums and Jozef has some vocal parts, together with singers from the other bands. We heard the results so far and are very exciting to hear the whole thing!! Can't wait! We also did some gangscreams, which were fun as hell!!!! (pics are by The Artillery)

As some of you already know, Solace Withins EP is part of a bigger project; the wearethetroops split-cd. The studio has some updates about it, which you can read right here:
A little update while we're nearing the end of the project :). We're in the 'wrapping up' phase of both Merge As One, Captain and Jupiter so that's all good. We've been in contact with a venue we'd love to be the host of 'We Are The Troops' release party and hopefully we’ll have some more info on that soon! Also, we've been finishing up the instrumentals for both cover songs of which one will be included on the split cd; both are going to kick ass :) (...) Continue reading.

Solace Within has been a busy bee, so we thought it was time to update you guys with some great news :)
Hell yea! We're in the final stages of the mixing process of our EP and man it's gonna be tasty! If you already liked the 2010 Demo, you're in for a real treat! This thing is of a whole other level. Marloes and Robert from the studio have done a great job and we're very pleased with the results already. The EP will be mastered in the US. We've also took some special care in creating a cool cover with Jip (Maggies Bookshop / Ravenphotography). We can't wait to release the damn thing! As things are going right now, this will most likely be June 2011.
Solace Within has been flying with one engine for a few months. We've been searching for a second guitarist for quite some while now. We've met some great guys and would like to thank each and everyone of them for their effort and wish them the best. Now let us introduce to you our newest bandmember; Hakan usta. Hakan has been playing guitar for quite some years and has lots of band and stage experience. Impressed by some of the stuff he showed off, we think Solace Within will be on full power within a few weeks again. Solace Within's first gig with Hakan will be 24th of June. This eve will have a sick line-up and we advice you to check that sh*t out! Together with When All Light Dies and Maggies Bookshop, Solace Within will bring you all the metal you can handle! Hope to see you there!

It's a wrap!!! We finished up recording our EP. We're so stoked of what we heard already and really anxious to hear the first mixes. Marloes and Robert, from the Artillery studio, have done a great job to push us beyond our limits. The EP will be mastered in the States. This thing will be the SH*T!

Robert and Marloes from the studio We are the Artillery have written a cool newsitem according our recordings. The also took some nice pictures:
"Hey all, last weekend Solace Within from Hengelo (o) entered the studio and they came prepared :). They play a creative mix of hardcore/metalcore/deathcore/piratecore/j-pop . We’ve tracked 4 songs which sound retardedly awesome already. There’s still some vocal tracking to be done (if this also means gang vocals is still debatable.. XD) on half of the tracks, but maaaaan it’s going to be tasty!

Set for 2011 - EP recordings and Split CD Project

Solace Within was contacted by Marloes Polman and Robert Nabbe for a special project. This project involves different bands from the Netherlands, which will all record an EP. From this EP, one song will feature on a split cd. Januari 28th we'll go in preproduction, with the actual recordings at the 29th and 30th of Januari. We can't wait and know for sure the split CD (and EP of course ;-) will RAWK!!!

Solace Within wins Winter Offensief 2010

To get asked for Winter Offensief of Atak Enschede was such a great honor, but to win the d*mn thing was just out of this world! Our tickets sold out pretty fast, even after we got extra.
During the Offensief we saw people wearing our stickers on their clothes and accessoires everywhere. When we finally hit our first note a moshpit was instantly born and the tone was set! We had the most *awesomenenestest* time ever for you guys! Thanks everyone for being such a great sport!
At the end of the evening we were called on stage to recieve the first prize! We won 12 hours of recording time at Tom Meier (who has previously recorded Deadbeat, Treatment and Roadkill 55).
Thanks Atak, for the effort, food, beverages, great opportunity, sound/light and great evening. Our special thanks goes out to Daisy Oosterbaan en Stef de Gunst for making all this possible.

Solace Within was asked to perform at Winter Offensief 2010. Every season 5 bands are selected to prove they are the upcoming bands of the east. This is an important gig for SW so we'd really appreciate it if you guys came to support us. Remember that this will be Leon the Legend's last gig in Solace Within!

Deze avond is de aftrap van het concept 'Atak café presenteert'. Iedere donderdagavond zullen er lokale bands optreden in het café om zo podiumervaring op te doen. De entree is gratis, het idee is een avond in de kroeg met bandjes erbij. De bands die optreden in het café maken ook kans om geselecteerd te worden voor een optreden in een seizoensoffensief. De avond begint op tijd en bestaat uit drie korte sets gepresenteerd door DJ Punishment, die aan het eind van de avond samen met DJ Crime nog zal draaien.
De hardste band trapt af, Solace Within. Strakke stevige gitaar riffs en veel gegrunt. Jammer is dat de microfoon van de tweede zang erg zacht staat. De (net vader geworden) frontman Jozef profileert zich als een echte frontman en laat zien dat hij er staat. Solace Within zet een stevige set neer voor de metal liefhebber.
Deanmoore heeft een poppunk sound. Een lichte rauwe stem afgewisseld met hoge tonen. Strakke pakkende gitaar akkoorden zorgen dat de nummers lekker klinken, maar zorgen er ook voor dat ze vrij eentonig worden. Deanmoore begint als een aangename afwisseling op het gitaar-geweld van Solace Within en ook al wisselen ze stevigere nummers af met de meer pop-achtige nummers, er blijft behoefte aan nog wat meer variatie.
Deadbeat wordt door de (vaak wel erg flauwe) presentator aangekondigd als het 'sterretje van de avond'. De band maakt deze verwachting niet helemaal waar. Zanger Donovan lijkt problemen te hebben met zijn stem. Vooral in de zangstukken lijkt het hem moeite te kosten de goede tonen er uit te krijgen, hoewel de ruigere stukken wel een stuk beter gaan. Een confettikanon kan dit ook niet compenseren, maar de band weet er toch wel een entertainende set van te maken. Vooral bassist Luuk een liedje laten zingen, blijkt een succes bij het publiek. Deadbeat laat zien erg veel lol te hebben in optreden en doen veel moeite om hun publiek te vermaken. Eigen nummers laten een groepje fans, gekleed in Deadbeat shirts, vooraan moshen. De band kan natuurlijk hun welbekende covers niet achterwege laten en spelen Owl City's "Fireflies" en Jay Sean’s "Down". Aan het eind van de avond kan iedereen nog even losgaan.
DJ's Crime & Punishment draaien hun platen en krijgen het overgebleven publiek aan het dansen. Hiermee sluiten ze de allereerste avond Atak café af.

So the moment has finally come... SolaceWithin's demo's released! The band SolaceWithin has been created a few years ago, but the current line-up, musical style and tracklist has only been set up a few months ago. Because of that, it has been some sort of a challenge to hit the studio and record our stuff in such small amount of time. Despite the fact we're artists and artists are never fully pleased with the stuff they create, we actually pretty happy with the results, buuuuuuuuuut we're not the audience so without further ado...

Demo Recordings
April 4th, 2010Hi everyone,
Last month we did 2 gigs of which we have uploaded some pics. This month, besides searching for gigs, we have planned to record a demo at Dirk's Drum Service in Neede. We have already set a date with Dirk so everything is ready to go! We also have selected two songs of which one will be Pay the Price. Later this year we've planned to record an EP at JB. SW and JB agreed to work together yet a date has to be set yet. Be sure to check out our website at the end of April!
